Lasers have revolutionized the field of implant dentistry. The procedure of uncovering implants during the second stage of surgery was once a procedure that involved either using a scalpel to uncover the implants or using a tissue punch to punch a hole in the gums and uncover the implants. Today, lasers are used to quickly, easily and painlessly perform the second stage surgery. Photo 1 shows the a patient's lower left jaw where an implant had been placed 6 months earlier. The implant is now ready for second stage uncovering. Photo 2 shows the area immediately after second stage surgery with an overdenture attachment connected to the implant. |
